Tillie Ekstein

 

Tillie Ekstein, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Tuesday morning on January 6, 2015, at Avalon Assisted Living Center in Bridgewater. She was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, as well as having residence in Levittown, Pennsylvania, and Hillsborough, New Jersey. She enjoyed traveling, reading, and playing board games with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Hillsborough Senior Citizens, Chapter B, for many years. 

 

Tillie is predeceased by her two sisters, Esther Keller and Selma Karter, brother Arthur Schall, and her parents, Max and Rose Schall.

 

Tillie leaves behind one sister, Evelyn Schall of Brooklyn, New York, three devoted daughters, Linda Williams of Somerville, Marilyn Portman and husband Larry of Garland, Texas, and Karen DeSalva and husband Peter of Montclair, Virginia. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Michael and Matthew Portman of Garland, Texas, Joseph and Jonathan DeSalva of Montclair, Virginia, and Julie Ochoa of White Plains, New York. 

 

A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, Gill Lane, Iselin, New Jersey 08830.
