Michael Anthony DeMaio
Raritan- Michael A. DeMaio, 83, died peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2013 in the home he built for him and his family. Son of the late Anthony and Nicolena DeMaio, Mikey was born in Raritan and was a lifelong resident of the Boro. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mikey was Truck Driver for Peter Lusardi in Somerville for 35 years. Mikey was a strong, hard working man who will always be remembered for his willingness to help anyone without asking for anything in return. He enjoyed and took great pride in caring for his house, maintaining the yard and his Japanese gardens and most importantly being with his family. He is predeceased by his brothers, Anthony "Sixty" DeMaio, Frank DeMaio; sister, Grace DeMaio and survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Ann (Vitale) DeMaio of Raritan; daughter, Deborah Ann Gecik and husband Peter of Pittstown; sister, Nancy Trippanera and husband Joseph of Ocean Twp; granddaughters, Elizabeth Louise DeFranco of Hampton, Lisa Ann Dettra and husband Daniel of Raritan, Brittany Rose Gecik of Pittstown; grandsons, Dameon Gecik of NY; Shaun Gecik and fiance Tam of Phillipsburg, Brendan Gecik and wife Kelley of Chicago; great- granddaughter, Grace Ann; and great-grandsons, Mark and Jake, Brixton, and Destin. Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Prayers will be said 9AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church in Raritan.
