Westfield- Marie H. Sonnentag, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019 at her home. Daughter of the late Helen Waldron and James Waldron, sister to the late Jim and Billy Waldron, Marie was born in Jersey City where she lived until 1964. It was in Jersey City where she met her husband Bill and started a family. In 1964 Marie and family moved to Westfield and their family grew.Marie was a homemaker, she enjoyed baking – made a remarkable apple pie, crocheting, her work as an elementary school playground monitor, and volunteerism with organizations including Meals on Wheels, American Association of Retired People and church.In what began as work as a nanny, Marie became another grandmother to the O’Donnell girls and part of their extended family.  Marie is also remembered as a wonderful neighbor, and mother’s helper to the Tropeano family. Earlier this year Marie and Bill moved to Bridgewater and in a short time Marie became a beloved friend to many in her community at The Chelsea.Marie is survived by her husband Bill of sixty-nine years, daughter Patricia and her husband Glenn, daughter Laura and her husband Mark, son William and his wife Gail. She also has grandchildren Danielle, Katie, Jennifer, Eric, Chris and Allison, and three great-grandchildren Blake, Lena and Shae. Marie is also survived by family dog Josie, “who makes everything better.”

 A Memorial Mass will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2019 at The Church of St. Anne, 325 2nd Ave., Garwood, NJ.
