Mae T. Ewankov

 

Mae T. Ewankov, 92, died peacefully Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Hillsborough. She was born and raised in Whitehouse Station to the late parents of Edward and Mary DeDecker. Mae was a Flemington High School graduate, and a secretary before enlisting in the US Navy WAVES during World War II. During the war she was assigned to the secretarial pool in Washington D.C. In 1946, she married her husband, Robert and became a stay at home mom in Somerville for over 62 years before recently moving to Hillsborough. Mae was a devote parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Somerville. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and solving cross word puzzles. She will be sadly missed by her family.

 

She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Robert Ewankov; brother, Joseph DeDecker and sister, June Terranella.

 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Patricia Ann Clifford and husband James of Branchburg, Robert Joseph Ewankov and wife Nancy of Stephens City, VA, Edward Mark Ewankov and wife Denise of Spring Hill, FL, Donald Thomas Ewankov and fiancée Lisa Hatman of Somerville, NJ, Stephen Douglas Ewankov and wife Grace of Wild Crest, NJ; grandchildren, Lt. Colonel James Clifford and wife Hannah of Fayetteville, NC, Jennifer Houck and husband Russell of Burke, VA, Desiree Ewankov and fiancée Eddie Willard of Hacketstown, NJ, Nicholas Ewankov and fiancée  Alysia Sawyer of Schenectady, NY; great-grandchildren, Cassie Houck, Ellie Houck, Jimmy Clifford, and Abby Clifford.

 

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St., Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A memorial mass will be announced at a later date. Mae and her husband Robert’s ashes will be buried at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, VA.
