Somerset-Darlene P. Mecca, 72, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at her home in Somerset, NJ. Darlene was born and raised in Buffalo, NY to the late Anthony and Josephine Parrino. She resided most of her life in the Albany, NY area, then retired to Florida and New Jersey. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Albany in Mathematics and was employed by the NY State Department of Health as a Program Manager, retiring after 15 years.  Darlene was the ultimate hostess often preparing elaborate Italian meals from soup to nuts.  Another one of Darlene’s greatest joys was cruising the Caribbean with family and friends.  She took great pride in organizing family reunions which she lovingly referred to as “Bizza Bashes.” Darlene also enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts and trips to the casino.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 52 years, Michael G. Mecca; loving children, Michele Fabbio and husband, Patrick, and Michael A. Mecca and wife, Yang; treasured grandchildren, Juliana, Nicholas, Mia and Matthew; beloved siblings, Marlene Leone, and Anthony Parrino, and a whole host of adoring nieces, nephews and countless friends from near and far.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-8PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. A memorial funeral mass will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at St. Joseph Church in Hillsborough.

The family wishes that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Hackensack Meridian Health John Theurer Cancer Center.
