NICHOLAS E. HAVRILAK
AGE: 81 BRIDGEWATER
Nicholas E. Havrilak, 81, died peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. Son of the late John and Anna Havrilak, Nicholas was born in Wilkes Barre, PA and lived the past 46 years in Bridgewater. Nicholas was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He served from 1950 thru 1952. He was a 1959 graduate of King's College in Wilkes Barre, PA. Nicholas was an accountant and worked for the IRS in Newark for 35 Years retiring in 1986. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Byzantine Church in Hillsborough, a member of the St. Mary's Holy Name Society, treasurer for the Greek Catholic's Union, and worked as treasurer for the BINGO held on Saturday's at St. Mary's Byzantine Church. He enjoyed bowling, doing crossword puzzles, playing softball, horseshoes, darts and shooting pool. He also enjoyed watching both football and baseball.
Nicholas is predeceased by his brothers, Michael, Elias, John, Basil and sister, Ann. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 52 years, Margaret (Pasternak) Havrilak of Bridgewater; son, Nicholas T. and wife Sharon Havrilak of Bethlehem, PA; daughter, Marie T. and husband Robert Hala of Bound Brook; brother, Stephen and wife Marilyn Havrilak of Wilkes Barre, PA.
Prayers will be said 9:15am on Friday at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am Funeral Liturgy at St. Mary's Byzantine Church in Hillsborough. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
