Alexander Richard Dirner

Martinsville- Alexander Richard Dirner, 87, died January 8, 2019 at his home in Martinsville. Born in Newark to the late Alexander and Elvira Dirner, he was raised in Union before moving to Bridgewater in 1977. He was an accomplished machinist and model maker with many companies including, D&D Tool Manufacturing in Union, Seal Spout in Liberty Corner, and Thomas & Betts in Bridgewater. During his career, Richard also had several patents. Richard was also a member of the Union Elks, Ten 100 Hunting Club and enjoyed volunteering for Visiting Nurse Service for over 20 years. He was an avid gardener for many years. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Joan Dirner who passed in 2013.

Richard is survived by his beloved daughters, Linda Fulton, Cynthia Quinn and husband, Thomas, and Eileen Dirner and husband, David Woboril; three grandchildren, Kristine Davis and husband, Allen, Kelsey Quinn, and Robert Fulton; one great grandson, Christopher Davis and sister, Doris Bombalicky.

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4PM & 7-9PM on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM, Friday, January 11, 2019 at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.

I am very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you in this difficult time. I hope you may find comfort at Revelation 21:4, “And he (God) will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” We can look forward to the time when God will take away all reasons for distress and he even gives us a hope of a resurrection. (Acts 24:15) I hope this promise brings you comfort as it does me.
