Lawrence Markowitz
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Markowitz, 73, of North Brunswick, New Jersey. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Columbia, SC. Mr. Markowitz, a native of New York City, lived in New Jersey and in Florida most of his adult life. He was the son of Saul and Fannie Markowitz and brother to Francine and Diane Markowitz. He was married to Mariafrances Markowitz, who passed away recently, and is the father of two sons - Dr. Joseph Markowitz of Columbia, South Carolina and Steven Markowitz of Ewing, New Jersey.
Mr. Markowitz served his country in the Air Force from 1965-1973 and was in Vietnam in 1968-1969. He came back to the United States and was a police officer in New Brunswick for 15 years and then was a business owner there and in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He was a kind, decent man and well loved by his wife and children.
He has many nephews and nieces including Randy Rifkin, Jack Markowitz, Jill Ottofaro, Robert Godsey, William Godsey, and Austin Godsey. All who knew him will miss him including several of his son, Joseph, friends, James-Michael DeMaio and Michael Melofchik both of New Jersey, who considered him a father figure in their lives.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 PM with military honors at 4PM on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 East Main Street, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
